Access to DMP data is possible for anyone in possession of a DMP. This includes the issuer, the recipient, and any parties in the downstream supply chain to whom the DMP has been forwarded. DMPs can also grant access to material data as part of a Digital Product Passport (DPP). DPPs help to track final industrial products throughout from creation to disposal.
When a DMP is issued, a hash value and timestamp of its content are created. This data fingerprint acts as an incorruptible proof, without revealing any information about the underlying data. During verification, the DMP's content is compared with the original proof, and the verification is successful only if the content remains unchanged.
DMPs are often subject to statutory retention requirements of up to 50 years. Blockchain technology ensures that DMP data remains auditable, independent of any single company, including S1SEVEN. Multiple entities may store the same DMP but all are referencing the same proof, which guarantees consistency and enables traceability through the chain of proofs.
